What certificate is your film?

I think the film is certificated at a '15'. I particularly like the idea of linking story-line 2 and 1 together, so therefore story-line 2 would be the final outcome of the entire film.

I believe that the film is a 15 because of the strong threat and menace within the film however its not sadistic or sexualized, so this means it falls within the 15 category. At times their may be strong language within the film as events turn to into the worst, however it's not continuous so this is also what would make the film a 15 and not a 18.

200 word synopsis of the whole plot

The opening of the film is what builds up the basis and questions of what the film is going to be about. Therefore the opening establishes that there's this abandoned house in existence where some murderous person or demon inhabits, the identity of this being is pretty much a mystery and unknown. Anyone who enters its lair basically falls as its victim, which is shown in the opening of the young teenagers. Beyond the opening sequence the plot develops until we eventually learn what this creature is, and why it remains in this house. *

We then go back in time to 1960, after the open credits. The house is homely and new, which evidence to show this is a family home. A young boy and his mother live there, however the mother is slightly crazy and has an abusive relationship with her child who is about 10 years old. As a strong type of Christian she beats him for any wrongdoing – the whole atmosphere is rather negative. One day the mother reached breaking point and she locks the child in a small room for about two years until only opening it to give the child more torment and occasionally food and water for survival. By the end of this time period the child is psychologically abnormal mentally and his physical health is weak. When the door unlocks mysteriously he finds the house is pretty much a wreck and his mother has fled. Hence leaving him abandoned. He lives in this house, the idea unimaginable not to leave. He is physically in disrepair. Two people stumble across the house one day and the boy panics, and only knowing abusive behavior towards humans hides, and kills them. Which is where the killing streak starts and actually drinks their blood. His thirst for killing grows stronger and soon the house becomes this even of horrific actions. He haunts the house in his physical form until his dying day, when he becomes this demonic form. By the end of the film its 2011 and part of the opening sequence is in repartition to show the story is up to date and relates back to the beginning with the story of the past now told. Therefore by the end the audience will feel a lot of emotions towards events and the story of the child now turned to demon form.

*Or story-line two:

We then travel two years into the future, introducing new characters showing that the film is now about to follow their story-line and relation to the house. The house has been done up and a young couple move in with a fresh future. Things have seemed to quiet down within the house from what we saw at the opening sequence. However as time goes by its clear that things have been biding their time as things eventually turn into dramatic events. The woman in the house starts getting flashbacks of the young boys history and past in the house which is similar to those of the first story-line. She finds these flashbacks interesting and in doing so she virtually lets the demon in. Who takes over her body and formation. Her personality completely changed she starts cutting herself and spends half her time living in the boys (demons) childhood. Her fiancee cant understand what's happening and is getting pushed to breaking point as he doesn't know what's happening to the person he loves. He believes she's loosing the plot. Strange and horrible things continue to happen and the man can't take things no more. He starts to look up the history of the house and begins to unravel the truth of what happened to inhabitants of the house in the 1900's. The deaths of Hayley and Dean at the beginning also come into light. In shock and horror the man knows he has to do something to put a stop to this. He finds that the mother who did this to the child is now in a mental institution and he goes to talk to her. She explains that it was God telling her to do what she did, that the boy wasn't as innocent as he seemed. Dark whispers stalked him and she could hear them. The mother is now established in a new light and some kind of excuse is made for her actions. She tells him that the demon will never leave the house. In desperation the man goes home, where his wife is now unconscious. Blood everywhere. The man try's to bring her round and succeeds. Her weak, limp and virtually lifeless form suddenly changes. First into the boy of the 1900s and then into the old man who always was and is now in demonic form. Suddenly the black mass of the demon lunges out of the woman's body and knocks the man of his feet, enveloping him. Events lead into an horrific death of the man. The plot ends as a never ending system.

Storyboard

Unfortunately this storyboard is not an accurate portrayal of my original idea and storyboard as i didn't have enough time to finish my planning fully before i had to film in order to have enough time for completion and to keep track with time. Therefore my original storyboard would have scenes that i cut out of the opening sequence in order to shorten it - however this storyboard pretty much just follows the opening sequence as it is now.
